Rules of Archives and Village History

"Organized Archives, Prosperous Village, Preserved Memory"

Villages are the spearhead of public services for community members and are formed in order to preserve and advance customs, traditions and culture in accordance with the mandate in Law Number 6 of 2014 concerning Villages. The village has a history of the nation's collective memory which describes the identity and identity of the Indonesian nation so it needs to be preserved and saved based on the provisions of Law Number 43 of 2009 concerning Archives. Based on this role, efforts are needed to realize an orderly archive in the village government as a follow-up to the directives from the President of the Republic of Indonesia on June 9, 2021 related to archiving tasks, one of which is documenting the richness of cultural arts and presenting an interesting way to build the love of the younger generation for culture nation.

History describes the socio-cultural aspects and social relations of society. One of the smallest community groups is the village community. Research on rural areas, especially from a historical, anthropological and sociological point of view, becomes increasingly important when the village becomes a center for empowering the population and the environment. Village research will help identify problems in contemporary villages, trace the historical roots of these problems, and change village culture to adapt to global changes, without destroying cultural identity, social cohesion, and destroying the environment. This is in line with Village SDGs Number 18, namely "Dynamic Village Institutions and Adaptive Village Culture", with efforts to maintain the local wisdom of village communities.
